ELLIOTT SNELL COTTLE, 86, of Pickford, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Petoskey.

He was born February 27, 1926, in Marquette Township to Russell William and Reta May (nee Harrison) Cottle.

A lifelong resident of Pickford, Mr. Cottle was graduated from Pickford High School in 1944, and then served in the United States Army during World War II.

He married Marjorie Elda McKenzie on June 25, 1947, at the Pickford United Methodist Church.

He was a full-time farmer for many years and then continued to farm while he worked at the Limestone quarry in Cedarville. After he retired from the quarry, he worked for Pollard Construction in Cedarville for several years.

He was a member of the Pickford United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 323, Pickford Grange, Pickford Seniors, and Good Sam's Club.

Mr. Cottle enjoyed working in his yard, tinkering in the garage, golfing, riding snowmobiles, camping, square dancing, and hunting. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings.

He is survived by two sons and their families, Richard and Marcie Cottle of Pickford and Dennis and Mickie Cottle of Amarillo, Texas; One daughter and her family, Marjorie and Carl Soderlund of Cedarville; grandchildren and their families, Chad and Jody Williams, Shon and Melissa Cottle, Vicki and George Mayer, Tawni and Andy Reed, Cory and Michelle Cottle, Keith Williamsm Lena Cottle, and Chasity Cottle; and great-grandchildren, Austin Cottle, Dalton Mayer, Caleb Williams, Dyan Mayer, Alyssabeth Cottle, Garrett Reed, Gavin Reed, Makenna Cottle and Taylor Williams; two brothers and their families, R. Alex and Delores Cottle of Pickford and Ohn and Sandy Cottle of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and one sister and her family, Belva and James Rutledge of Pickford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Elda.

Visitation will be held December 15 from 10am until noon at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Following visitation the funeral will be at Pickford United Methodist Church at 1pm with Pastor Larry Osweiler officiating. Burial will be in the Cottle Cemetery in Marquette Township in the spring.
