Joseph was the son of John 1828-1893 and Margaret "May" Dotzler Steinline 1830-1926 of Germany with siblings John, abt. 1858-?, Hanna "Anna" 1861-1932, Mary Ann 1863-1932 and Barbara 1868-?. He married Mary Alwilda Snyder on 27 December 1888 in Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio and they had 6 children: Margaret "Mae" 1889-1966, Mary Pearl "Pearlie" 1891-1972, Genevieve C "Eva" 1899-1975, Lester Edward 1902-1962, Robert K 1907-1971 and Raymond Joseph 1910-1953. Joseph had a seventh grade education and did maintenance work on the cars for the electric railroad. Joseph died July 19th 1947 from a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 82 years 7 months and 4 days.
