Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping - 1873
BUNNELL.--Mrs. Anna Bunnell, wife of Nathaniel Bunnell, and daughter of Smith and Susannah Hadden, died in South West Oswego, June 20, 1873, aged 66 years 3 months and 7 days. The subject of this notice was born in Westchester county, in this State, March 13, 1807. At the age of nine her parents moved to the town of Mentz, Cayuga County. At the age of eleven, she gave her young heart to the Lord and united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she remained a faithful member until removed to the church above. In 1827 she gave her hand and heart to the writer, and soon after came to Oswego, where she finished her course having kept the faith. It was the writer's privilege to know her from childhood to her removal from earth. She naturally possessed a happy disposition, always cheerful, always looking on the bright side, she was a loving, dutiful child. a kind and affectionate companion, a wise and safe counselor. It was her delight to make home pleasant and attractive and all around her happy. She was an every-day Christian at home and abroad; religion was her theme and a subject of conversation. She would often say that she thought it would be nothing for the Christian to die, as the sting had been taken away. The disease of which she died was dropsy. She was a great sufferer the last few weeks of her life, but she was patient, never complaining but she would say, "It is all right." But a few minutes before she died she was asking the physician some questions about her disease, when suddenly she dropped her head and expired without a struggle or a groan.

"And Jesus took her from a world of desires
Away to the mansions above,
The Heaven of seeing His face,
The Heaven of feeling His love.
And has left me a lonely traveler here,
Weary opprest,
But my journey soon will end,
Then I shall rest."

Written by her husband, Nathaniel Bunnell
