Mr. Gallaher was the son of William and Caroline (Wallace) Gallaher of Mead Township, Belmont County, Ohio, and I believe that he was born there. His mother and sister died a few months after his birth from typhoid fever. Asa was named as a minor child on his father's application for a Civil War soldier's pension.

He married Mary Evelyn Drain, 25 Nov 1905, in Moundsville, and they lived many years in Harrison County, West Virginia. Asa was a coal miner, and they had these children:

Archie Ray
William "Darrell"
Ivan Glen
Beulah or Barbara J Tichenor Yates
Thelma P Cawger
Beno
Madeline M Clutter
Laura Belle Gallaher
maybe David Gallaher
