MYRNA LOY BERRY "AUNT MYRNA" MCCARTNEY

Beloved mother, wife, grandma, great-grandma and friend, Myrna McCartney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov 2, 2008, at her residence in Baton Rouge. She fought a courageous, inspirational battle against cancer that ultimately defeated her body, but not her spirit! She was born 72 years ago in Carson, Miss.

Viewing will be held at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., 4230 High St, Zachary, on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the service which will commence at 11 a.m., conducted by Myrna's son, Bishop Rocky McCartney. Burial in Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter.

Myrna was known for her deep, abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and her love and compassion for all those she met. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) and loved to share her love for the Gospel with friends and family. She was an avid and accomplished genealogist. She and her late husband, Frank, serviced two temple missions in Dallas. She was also a temple worker. Anyone who ever met her loved her from the start and their lives were enriched by her love, acceptance, charity and compassion.

Myrna is survived by her children, oldest son, Mike Vancherie and his wife, Rhoda Rupp Vancherie, of Lindon, Utah, Rocky McCartney and his wife, Donna Baird McCartney, of Central, and Toni Denova and her husband, Greg, of Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren Andy McCartney, Daniel Gray, Jennifer Elton, Ashley Guercio, Rachel Brown, Laryn Owenby, Michael Vancherie, Jr, David Gray, Michael McCartney, Jeff Vancherie, Kevin McCartney, Amy Vancherie and Bryce Vancherie; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a loving sister, Gwen Corkern and her husband, Elmer, of Bogalusa.
