Lorna Mae McMillan was born July 6, 1938, on a farm near Burr Oak, to Ivan and Helen (Davis) McMillan. Lorna died Jan. 25 at her home in Beloit.
Although blind and handicapped at birth, she attended the School for the Blind in Kansas City. She worked many years in Topeka for the State Facility for the Blind. Lorna was a conscientious and devoted worker. She amazed everyone with her clear memory of events and dates. She was an avid fan of Kansas University and the Kansas City Royals, listening to their games on her companion, her radio.
In May of 2000, Lorna moved to Beloit, and began working for OCCK, Inc. Lorna selected Beloit, not only for the services provided but also to be closer to her sister, Audrey. She made her home with OCCK and worked there as long as her health permitted. Lorna enjoyed bowling, board games, music, and traveling with her sister to see her brother, Eldon, and family in Payette, Idaho. She was also active in the Burr Oak Christian Church and a Christian Church in Topeka when her health permitted.
Lorna is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Merle McMillan; and a sister, Audrey Hamilton.
She is survived by her brother. Eldon McMillan, Payette, Idaho; a brotherin-law, Donald Hamilton, Mankato; and many relatives.
Her funeral was held Tuesday at Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, with Pastor Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Casketbearers were Carl Figgins, Rick Warneking, Don Bird, Lynn Scarrow, Shawn Newell and Lloyd Johnson. Interment was in the Burr Oak Cemetery.
