Jakob Gramm son of Christian and Chrisitne (Strobel) Gramm was born 9 Jan 1885 in Dobriluck, S. Russia. He came to the U. S. with his parents in 1898. Here he was fiven a Christan upbringing and confirmed in the EV Lutheran Chruch. On 21 Aug 1911 he was married to Emma Stutz. This marriage was blessed with 4 children of which 2 died in infancy. He was a faithful member of our congregation. He was always ready to further God's kingdom. In his circle of acquaintances he was always courteous and was well-thought of for this reason. He was always strong and healthy until about the last 4 months when he developed heart trouble. He consulted a doctor after which he seemed to get better. But, the Lord had decided otherwise. He had severe pain the last 7 days of his life. His wife, relatives and friends cared for his as best they could. He longed for this Lord and rest. His yearning was soon granted. The Lord took him home on 26 June. He chose Heb. 1:21 and 2 hymns which the men's choir sang: "Nearer My God to Thee" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus". He reached the age of 47 years, 5 months and 20 days. He is mourned by his wife, 2 children, his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and many relatives and friends. Pastor C. A. Allen spoke in English and Pastor John Hoelzer spoke in German. Interment was in the church cemetery. Bethune, Colorado. Chr. E. Maedche, Pastor
