ARLINGTON - Carl H. Breidenstein, 91, died at his home in Arlington on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. He was born on Nov. 18, 1921, to Carl Breidenstein Sr. and Rose Catte Breidenstein.

After his mother died when he was a junior in high school, he later welcomed Mary Hole Breidenstein as his stepmother. He was the third generation to farm on the homesteaded land. He lacked one semester to graduate from Kansas State University before being drafted into World War II.

He married Joan Lindahl July 20, 1946, in Arlington when he returned from the war. They were married for 63 years before she died on May 31, 2010. Carl was proud of his military service with the Corps of Army Engineers during WWII. He served in Paris and various cities in England. He enjoyed attending army reunions and calling his army buddies. After retiring from farming, he and Joan enjoyed many trips and new friendships with the Airstream Club. They also enjoyed a special circle of friends who celebrated birthdays together and another special group was Tuesday and Friday Card Club at the Arlington Senior Citizen Center. He loved to "Shoot the Moon". Carl also enjoyed coffee time at Carolyn's Essenhaus and considered himself a member of the board. He looked forward to family gatherings.
