MRS. M.C. FORD PASSES AWAY

Death of Amiret Lady Occurs After Very Brief Illness--A Resident of Lyon County for 31 Years--Funeral Held Here Monday.

Mrs. M. C. Ford, a resident of Lyon county for the past thirty-one years passed away at her home near Amiret last Saturday morning, October 21st, after an illnes of only two days with pneumonia.

Mrs. Ford, whose maiden name was Sarah McGovern, was born in Ireland May 1, 1847, coming with her parents to New York when she was one year old, later moving to Montello, Wisconsin, where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage to Michael C. Ford at Fox Lake, Wisconsin, August 31st, 1864, where they made their home for ten years. In 1874 they moved to Janesville, Minnesota, and made their home at that place for 17 years and in 1891 they came to Lyon County, locating near Amiret, where they have since resided.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ford, John, James and Katheryn having preceded their mother in death several years ago. There remain to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother, her husband, two daughters and six sons, William, Henry, Charles, Edward and Mary of Amiret; Michael of Red Lake Falls, Minn., Thomas of Yankton, S. Dak., and Mrs. Ed Dailey of Cottonwood, all of whom were present at the funeral.

Other relatives who were in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. T. H. McGovern of Bird Island, John McGovern of Redwood Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Ford Jr. of Agema, Minn., Arthur Ford of Sioux City, Mrs. Leo Froedle and Michael Flynn of Janesville, Wm. Degman of Faribault, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Burk and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Glynn of Janesville, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Flynn of Slayton, John Ford and son Joseph of Franklin, and Ray McGovern of Tyler.

Funeral services were held from the Holy Redeemer Catholic church in Marshall at ten o'clock Monday morning, requiem high mass being conducted by Rev. Fr. Carlin who spoke comfortingly of the exemplary life and the beautiful and home-loving traits of character possessed by the deceased.

The remains were laid at rest in the Marshall Calvary Cemetery.

The bereaved family has the sympathy of the comunity.
