Bertha May Bowman daughter of Noah Irvin Bowman and Minnie Bell Wall married 22 January 1926 in Canadian, Hemphill Co., Texas, to George Lloyd Scott. Bertha and George had seven children:

Bertha Mae Bowman Scott was born on June 23, 1904 at Butler, Oklahoma Territory and departed this life July 14, 1989 at Cheyenne, Okla., at the age of 85 years and 21 days. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Irvin and Minnie Wall Bowman, three brothers and four sisters, her husband, George Loyd Scott and two grandsons, Randy Jay Scott and Gary Don Lamb.
She is survived by her 7 children, George Loyd Scott, Jr., Roswell, New Mexico, Billie Scott Vincent, Sayre, Bobby Ervin Scott, Strong City, Betty Scott Lamb, Reydon, Vincent Harold Scott, Sayre, Lonna Scott Long, Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Gary Lee Scott, Cheyenne, 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bertha moved at an early age with her parents to a farm west of Cheyenne and resided there until her marriage to Loyd Scott in 1926. Then she and Loyd moved to the farm near Strong City on which they lived and raised their 7 children. They retired and moved to Cheyenne in 1966 where Bertha resided until the time of her death.
Bertha had many special qualities and a wide range of interests. She believed you could always find something good in everybody. She had had an unusual sense of humor and brought laughter to any situation. She believed strongly in the young people - as was shown by her support of all school projects and activities. She was someone the young could relate to. She particularly special to her grandchildren who always felt they could confide in her and benefit from her wisdom.
She loved her sons and daughter-in-law as her own children and frequently told each of them, separately, they were her favorite. Bertha had a gift for making each person feel special and maybe that was because they really were to her.
Bertha enjoyed reading and traveling and she loved to paint in oils for many years and even taught classes for a time and was a charter member of the Cheyenne Art Guild. During the past few years she produced many beautiful china paintings which will be treasured by her family and friends.
Bertha accepted Jesus Christ as her personal saviour(sic) at an early age. She was a faithful member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Strong City, later moving her membership to the First Southern Baptist Church at Cheyenne where she was active, participating member until the time of her death.
Bertha Scott was a very special person. Her influence and the example of her life will live on through the years in the lives of her decendents(sic) and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 16, 1989 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne with Milton Gage and Ken Shiplet officiating. Burial followed in the Strong City Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne.
