VIRGIL STEINMETZ, 90, of Macedonia, entered peacefully into eternal life after a brief illness on January 26, 2013, at Regina Health Center. He was surrounded by family and friends. Virgil was born on November 22, 1922, in New Washington OH to Lawrence and Bertha Hiler Steinmetz. He was married to Ruth on September 26, 1953. He and his wife were long time members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in Macedonia. Virgil retired as a foreman from the Gibson-Homans Company. He then spent much of his retirement as a substitute bus driver for the Nordonia Hills Schools, driving until he was 80. He was an avid golfer, playing excellently, well into his 80's. Ruth and he enjoyed many trips with good friends. Virgil is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth (nee Roch), children Mark, Greg (Linda), Cindy Trautzsch (Tom) and Beth Valentino (Vince); grandchildren Steve (fiancee, Amy), Tim (Katherine), Jason (Tara), Eric, Renee, Leah Trautzsch, Sara Trautzsch, Zach Valentino; great-grandson Aiden; and brothers-in-law, Ron (Mary) Roch and Adam Freiheit. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marcella Huck, Rita Pasheilich, Ruby Freiheit; brothers-in-law, John Huck, Peter Pasheilich, Joseph Voland, Louis Gondek; and sisters-in-law, Martha Voland and Evelyn Gondek. Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 W. AURORA RD. (RT. 82) SAGAMORE HILLS, FOR VISITATION TUESDAY, 5-8 P.M. Family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel of The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, Regina Health Center, 5232 Broadview Rd., Richfield, OH 44286, Wednesday, at 11 a.m., for his Mass of Christian Burial. VISITATION WEDNESDAY, AT REGINA HEALTH CENTER, 10 A.M., UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Regina Health Center.
