Mrs. John McAuliffe [née Mary Ann Donnelly] was born in the township of Tecumseh in 1855. When she was a mere child her parents came to McGillivray. She attended school until she was able to get a teacher's certificate, after which she taught in the Separate School of Parkhill, in Rama, Stephen and West Williams [Twps.].
In 1877 she was united in marriage to Mr. John McAuliffe, who at the time resided near Toronto; and after two years residence there came with her husband to Parkhill where she resided until the time of her death. Mrs. McAuliffe was a most amiable and devoted wife and mother and her religious training and her education enabled her to be of much use in her church. She was a valued worker in the R.C. Sunday school here for many years.
At the funeral service in the church Rev. D.A. McRae celebrated Requiem High Mass and he referred in eloquent and eulogistic terms to the many goodqualitites of heart and mind of the deceased. He spoke feelingly of her
devotion and service to her church, the exemplary life she lead and the community of her premature death. Mrs. McAuliffe leaves three sons and one daughter. Two sisters, Mrs. Reilly of Michigan and Mrs. Schram of Minn., and a brother, Mr. P. Donnelly of McGillivray, survive her. (from The Gazette-Review, Parkhill, Ont.,
