Peggy graduated from the Pulaski Hospital Nursing Program as a registered nurse and also trained at the Medical College of Virginia. She served as a surgical scrub nurse at Pulaski Hospital in the 1950's. She was an active volunteer in the Pulaski community where she volunteered for Our Daily Bread, mentored at both Claremont and Pulaski Elementary Schools, and worked for the Democratic Party of Virginia where she served a term as the vice-chairperson at the state level. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Pulaski's Thursday Club.
Peggy will be most remembered for her kind and loving heart. She was devoted to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. Family was always the most important thing in her life. She was also very grateful to all the care-givers who had helped her during both her and Dow's illnesses.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 in the overflow area of First United Methodist Church, Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski with the service immediately following in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at the New Dublin Presbyterian Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church, Pulaski, Our Daily Bread of Pulaski, or the M.D. Anderson cancer research program at cancermoonshots.org.Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
