Mr. Samuel David "Dave" Parris, age 75, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Parris was born in Washington County, Virginia a son of the late Joseph Franklin Parris and Elizabeth Blackwell Parris. He was a U.S. Veteran having honorably served his country in the Air Force. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was retired from Light Milling Company where he most recently worked as the manager of their Retail Outlet. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Asbury and Maxie Murray.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Parris of the home; children, Linda Davenport and husband, Kermit of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Wayne Parris and wife, Diane of Damascus, Virginia; Larry Parris of Glade Spring, Virginia; Tammy Montgomery and husband, Larry of Abingdon, Virginia and Teresa Buchanan and husband, Larry of Abingdon, Virginia; sisters, Irene Moore, Katie Murray and Betty Parris all of Abingdon, Virginia; brothers, Luther Parris of Damascus, Virginia; Hunter Parris of Abingdon, Virginia and Buddy Parris of Abingdon, Virginia; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his dog, Bambi.

Graveside Services for Mr. Dave Parris will be conducted in the Mountain View Methodist Church Cemetery on Route 75 in Washington County, Virginia with Pastor Jason Nunley officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Highlands Fellowship Honor Guard. Active Pallbearers will be Junior Roark, Hobert Flannagan, Charlie Meadows, Paul Worley, Bobby Cutting, Dave Looney and Carroll Blevins. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his friends from the Moose Lodge.
