Elaine was born in Colwood, Michigan on December 4, 1927 to the late Charles and Myrtle (Cross) Smith.
On December 27, 1947, she married the love of her life, Benjamin Watson in Colwood, Michigan. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2010.
Elaine was a member of the United Methodist Church in Caro where she was a Sunday school teacher and was part of the Socialables club. Later she attended the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church. She worked at the Caro Regional Center for twenty-three years. In her younger years, Elaine and her husband, Ben, would attend craft shows and go to antique auctions. Elaine was a member of the Huron County Senior Citizens Club.
Elaine was serious about Bingo; you dare not interrupt her during Bingo! She enjoyed reading, completing word search puzzles, and collected tea-cups. She loved cardinals and her favorite flower was violets.
She is survived by her children: Marsha Disher and her husband, James, of Athens, Alabama, Mary Jo Mantey and her husband, Charles, of Port Austin, and Steven Watson and his wife, Julie, of Bad Axe; eight grandchildren: Michael Disher, Melissa (Michael) Forton, Nicole (Michael) Gibson, Katie Carter, Becky Mantey, Timothy (Nicole) Mantey, Matthew Watson and Brian Watson; great grandchildren: Jordyn Carter, Noah and Jonah Mantey, Benjamin, Nicholas and Daniel Forton, Jacks and Sam Disher, Matthew and Hailey Gibson with a Baby Mantey due in January 2019; along with many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her siblings: Harland, Leona, Marguerite, Lawrence, Geraldine, Venetta, Arletta, Charles, Alger, Donna, and Robert.
Funeral service for Elaine will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Philip Tousley officiating. Burial will take place at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro, Michigan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
