Leesville - John D. Riley, 62, of the Ridge Road Community died Thursday in Lexington County Hospital. Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Miles and Ellie Seay Riley. He was a member of Cedar Grove Lutheran Church. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. Surviving are his widow, Sue Amick Smith Riley; two daughters, Mrs. James F. (Edith) Wessinger of Chapin and Mrs. James Q. (Alice Ruth) Harmon of Spartanburg; four sons, James L., John David and G. Ralph of Leesville and Don C. Riley of Lexington; and 14 grandchildren; seven stepdaughters, Mrs. Louis Mitchell of West Columbia, Mrs. Melvin Vaughn, Mrs. John Henry Morris, Mrs. Johnny Gunter and Mrs. Edwin Drisker of Lexington, Mrs. Jesse Heyward of Gilbert, Mrs. Howard Culver of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Miss Jan Smith of Leesville; and five stepsons, Everette, Walter, Lanier and John Smith of Lexington and Rickey Smith of West Columbia. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Miles T. Cullum and Rev. James Lindsay. Pallbearers will be Leland Boozer, Monroe Shealy, Willie Lowhorne, Legree Keisler, Russell Rawl, Frazier Riley, Sammy Riley and Everette Smith.
