DAVENPORT - Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Irene McAllister, a resident of Davenport and a current resident of the Mechanicsville, Iowa, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main St., Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Service at 4 p.m. Friday that all are invited to attend. Mrs. McAllister died peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, (which was her 97th birthday) at the Mechanicsville Nursing Center. Mary Irene Martin was born October 23, 1910, in Grand Mound, Iowa, a daughter of James Nicholas and Mary Agnes (Flynn) Martin. She was united in marriage to Raymond "Mac" McAllister on February 24, 1936, in DeWitt, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1977. Mary was a loving wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed family gatherings with the children and grandchildren. Memorials can be made to the Mechanicsville Nursing Center. Those left to honor her memory include daughters and sons-in-law Jean Zinsli, Davenport, Mary Jo and Rodney Jones, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Margaret and Terry Wendland, Eldridge, Iowa, and Diane Nichol, Winfield, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Wilda McAllister, Davenport; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, a son, David McAllister, (1963) and a grandson, Mark McAllister, (1962) also preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.
