NAPLES, Texas—Robert Franklin "Frank" Clayton, 82, died January 23, 2013, at his residence in Omaha, Texas as a result of cancer.
Mr. Clayton was born Oct. 22, 1930, in the Concord Community in Omaha, Texas to Joe Thompson and Clyde Talley Clayton. Frank grew up in Omaha and enjoyed life as a country boy. He graduated from Omaha High School in 1948. While there, he enjoyed being a member of FFA and playing basketball for Coach Vincent.
He had many jobs during his life, but spent 33 years at Lone Star Steel, retiring from there in 1986. After this, he enjoyed spending time with his family and entertaining grandchildren. Frank was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Hugh Clayton; a grandson, Nathan Allen Jackson; two brothers, J.T. Clayton and Jeff Clayton; one brother-in-law, Orval Surratt; and one nephew, Robbie Lee Surratt.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Reita Willtrout Clayton of Omaha; two daughters, Frankie Jarrell and husband, Jerry, of Powderly, Texas, and Nancy Fulmer and husband, Jerry, of Roy, Utah; daughter-in-law, Debbie Clayton of College Station, Texas; eight grandchildren, Ryan Jarrell of Greenville, Texas, Chuck Clayton and wife, Kelsie, of Bryan, Texas, Brianne Leggett and husband, Matt, of San Antonio, Texas, Stacie Sauer and husband, Dave, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, Bennett Jarrell of Powderly, Texas, Patrick Clayton of Temple, Texas, and Clayton Jackson and Robert Jackson of Ogden, Utah; great-grandchild, Benjamin Sauer of Cottonwood Heights, Utah; one sister, Louise Surratt of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Erma Gean Clayton and Sue Clayton of Omaha and Lena Esposito of Ontario, California; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, January 26, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Omaha, with Charlie Haldeman and the Revs. Nolan Richey and Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery, Omaha.
