Ollie May Smith Whitney Harvey of Cushing and Midwest City, OK, passed away early Monday morning, January 21, 2013, at the age of 85 years.
The Daughter of the late Homer H. Smith, Sr. and Florence May Wynn Smith was raised in Norwich, N.Y. Ollie graduated Norwich High School while working at Chenango Telephone Co. as an Operator and at Montgomery Wards. With Ollie's love of acting and singing, she had lead parts in school plays, operettas and musicals.
Ollie traveled extensively in Europe, the Far East, and throughout the USA with her first Husband, Robert C. Whitney, Jr. who was in the Air Force. She studied and spoke Russian, received an Associates Degree plus continued to take additional courses at Rose State College towards a B.A.
While working in Federal Civil Service, Ollie was, for 10 years, the Administrative Assistant to the Brigadier General of Tinker Air Force Base, and wrote a column in the Midwest City Journal. Ollie lived in Midwest City area from 1966-1996 and then moved to Cushing. She retired from Civil Service, was a life long member of the Episcopal faith and among other interests, she enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, operating antique booths, as well as music and theatre.
Both Ollie's first and second Husband, Mack L. Harvey predeceased her. Ollie is survived by two Daughters, Cynthia L. Cloutier and Husband Thomas of Boynton Beach, FL and Elaine M. Carter of Tulsa and Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Jason C. Cloutier of West Wolcott, VT, Kelly Carter Harris of Stillwater, OK and Aaron Carter of Cleveland, OH, five great-grandchildren; one sister of 11 siblings, Eloise La Barre of Bonifay, FL and other relatives in friends.
Graveside services will be Monday, January 28, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. in the Floral Haven Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
