More notes about Samuel Poling: http://www.waynekuntze.com/wk6mar201/pafn09.htm#225 Samuel POLING Tatterson, page 9-11, discusses Samuel and the inventory of father John POLING's estate. Samuel signature on page 9. Chapter II discusses the POLINGS of New Jersey. Samuel puchased two tracts of land in Monmouth County, New Jersey totaling 260 acres in 1723, about three years after he sold his property in Gravesend, Long Island. This property was adjacent to his brother-in-law, Joseph DORSETT. In 1758, (see page 17) Samuel's property was sold by the Sheriff of Monmouth County. Note: (Source: History and Genealogy of the POLING Family) Samuel appears first in 1700 in land records of Gravesend, when he sold his father's land, as administrator of his estate. In 1720 he disposed of all his property in Gravesend and moved to Monmouth Co., NJ, near his brother-in-law Joseph Dorsett. The Polings may have joined the Baptist church in New Jersey, where the Dorsetts were members. Note: Samuel served in Capt. Thomas Stillwell's Co. of Kings Co. Militia in 1715.
Note: Samuel was deceased by 1758 when his land was sold by his son John.
