Leesville, June 29 - Funeral services for D. U. Addy, 74, well known farmer of Lexington County who died at his residence Monday noon, where held at Cedar Grove Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. W. F. Heirs, pastor of Wittenburg Lutheran church, Leesville, of which Mr. Addy was a devoted member. Interment was made in the churchyard. Mr. Addy was a life-long resident of the county and died in the same community in which he was born. He was a man of many sterling traits of character and had a host of friends to mourn his death. He was a charter subscriber to The State, receiving one of the first copies, and continued until his death. He was a son of the late Dr. William Lloyd Addy. Mr. Addy is survived by two sons, H. L. Addy and N. C. Addy of Leesville; six daughters, Mrs. P. J. Risinger, Mrs. Festus Risinger and Mrs. P. C. Taylor of Leesville; Mrs. A. B. Rice [Price] of Gilbert, Mrs. G. C. Steadman of Chappells and Miss Estelle Addy of Columbia. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters and also by 22 grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Corrie Crout Addy, died about six months ago. © The State, Columbia, SC, 30 Jun 1929
