MRS. G.S. CUNNINGHAM.
Many friends in Dardanelle were grieved Tuesday to learn of the death of Mrs. Bennie Chandler Cunningham, age 80 years, widow of the late Judge Geo. S. Cunningham, which sad event occurred at an early hour Tuesday morning at the home of her son, Mr. C.A. Cunningham, in Blytheville. She had been in critical condition for more than a week and her death was not unexpected.
The remains were brought to this city and the funeral service, conducted by Rev. Chas. F. Wilkins, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dardanelle, was hed at the home of another son, Dr. Ben L. Cunningham, at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Active-Messrs. O.P. Moss (Blytheville,) Robert Cunningham, Jesse Cunningham, R.M. Duff, Robert Pierce, B.B. Miller, George Phillips and Dr. W.D. Jacoway. Honorary-Messrs. M.D. Howell, W.B. Lemoyne, Dr. L.E. Love, Geo. W. Carter, Judge T.E. Wilson, Geo. L. Veazey, C.E. Hall and S.G. Catlett. The business houses of the city were closed during the funeral hour.
Mrs. Cunningham was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Ben L. Chandler, prominent pioneer residents of Dardanelle. She was born and reared here, where she spent the greater part of her long and useful life. Mrs. Cunningham was a woman of rare culture and grace, a devoted wife and mother, and a wide circle of friends feel keenly the pang of her parting. She is survived by three sons, Bert C. Cunningham, of Arkadelphia; Dr. Ben L. Cunningham, of this city, and C.A. Cunningham, of Blytheville, to whom, in their profound sorow, we tender our deepest sympathy.
