Perry A. Kistler was born in Collinswood, Allen County, Indiana. He joined the Navy at 18 and served during the Spanish American War. He married Mary Ann Witmer in Davenport, North Dakota. They moved to Leonard, North Dakota where Perry became a rural mail carrier all of his career until retirement when he moved to Tacoma, Washington. He was the father of five children: one son and four daughters.
They are: Velma (Rolla Briscoe), Marion (Hal Wooton), Perry (Helen Haney), Marjorie(Thomas Dolik)and Ethel (Phil Casebolt).
Perry loved to fish and hunt. He was also President of the North Dakota Rural Letter Carriers Association.

Grandfather, I never knew you as you passed on one year before I was born to your daughter Marjorie. You did live long enough to see the joy my older brother brought though! I have the letter!
