Marie Michaels Michalowski, 57, a resident of Albuquerque for 22 years at 302 Solano NE, died Sunday evening in a local hospital following a long illness. She is survived by three sons, Richard Michaels, Albuquerque, Thomas Michaels, U.S. Marines, Yuma, Ariz., Robert Michaels, Albuquerque; one daughter, Florence Pawlowski, Chicago, Ill. one brother, Stanley Durkowski, Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Estelle Cainski, Albuquerque, and Mrs. Betty Ozmina, Albuquerque, and eight grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Arrangements will be announced by Strong-Thorne Mortuary.

A finer woman God never made. She was sweet and kind to everyone she met. For years she cooked for the Catholic Priest in Albuquerque, NM. What a cook she was. I would follow her around the kitchen and ask her how much of something she would put in a dish and she'd say oh, about that much. She never measured anything but if she was cooking I was eating. I learned to love Polish food from her and I can even cook a few dishes. Her son Bob was married to my mother for about 15 yrs and so we called her grandma Michaels. She always went by Michaels but the Soc Sec death index uses Michalowski.
