Orr, Derry – The announcement of the death, which occurred suddenly on Tuesday at his residence, 3, Princess Street, Londonderry, of Mr. Samuel Kyle Orr, builder and contractor, will be received with deep regret amongst a wide circle of friends in the city and East Donegal.
Deceased was sixty years of age, was a native of Sappagh, Muff, County Donegal. He came to Londonderry and served his apprenticeship to the building trade with the lae Mr. Dunlop, Sackville Street. In 1920 he started business as a builder and contractor on his own account.
The late Mr. Orr was a devoted member of the Strand Presbyterian Church, and formerly belonged to the Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church.
Deceased is survived by his wife, who was formerly a Miss Matilda Josephine McDrmott, three daughters and four sons, one of whom, David Frederick, is a leading aircraftman in the R.A.F.
Ref: David Moore's clippings – Funeral of Mr. Samuel K. Orr – There was a large attendance at the funeral of Mr. Samuel Kyle Orr, 3, Princess Street, Londonderry, which took place on Thursday from his late residence to Muff Burying-ground.
The chief mourners were – Messrs. Robert A., Samuel C., and Thomas N. Orr (sons) and Messrs. George, Thomas, and Joseph Orr (brothers); Ms. George Orr and Messrs. Norman, Alexander, Thompson and Albert Wylie (nephews); Messrs. Ross Walker Balliatine, Thomas Gilfillan and Boyd Wylie (brothers-in-law); and Mrs. James Mitchell (son-in-law).
Rev. J. A. Donaldson, B.A., conducted the service in the house and at the graveside.
Wreaths and other floral tributes were sent as follows – "In fond and ever loving memory from the sorrowing wife and family at home." Josephine, Mina, and Norman; Jim and Ethel and grandchild Kenneth; Jeannie; Cecil and Margaret; Bertie and Olive; Georgina and Boyd and Family; George and Wife, and family, Spencer Road, The Staff and Employees of N.I.R.T.B. (Londonderry Branch); Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jack; Mr. James Hyndman; Maggie and Ross; Matt and James; Mrs. Noble and Charlie; Mr. and Mrs. McElhinney; W. and Mrs. Crockett, and Noel and Mrs. Crockett, Duncreggan Road; Fred, Isa, and grandchild Joan; William Aiken, A subscription in lieu of flowers was sent to the City and County Hospital by Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dickie.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. William Adair & Son, Bishop Street.
