Daniel L. and Margaret L. Irvine at 74-220E3 share a tombstone with her parents, Joseph C. Fish Sr. and Mary E. Lord Fish at 74-220-E2. This Fish tombstone is adjacent to the tombstone shared by Daniel's parents Alfred and Laura Leedy Irvine (75-220E2) and their daughter Margaret Irvine Butcher (75-220-E3). Both tombstones are along Potomac Avenue near E Street.
In the 1920 census, this Daniel L. was living in the D.C. home of his mother-in-law, Mary Fish, minus a wife (as wife Margaret had died in 1918). Children in the home were Alfred C., Joseph F. and Elizabeth, who were listed as Mary Fish's grandchildren.
Daniel was an inspection clerk of some kind. His father, Alfred, worked as station master for the railroad and then for the Postal Service.
Evidently, there were connections between these Irvine and Fish families and the Capner family that had recently immigrated from England. A Mary Capner was listed as living in the Joseph and Mary Fish home, their grandson had Capner as a middle name and others had "C." It is unclear whether the Mary C. Irvine in a more distant part of this cemetery is related to those connections or not.
