From 30 Oct 1906 to 5 Aug 1914 he was transferred to the Army Reserves as a Corporal. On 13 Jun 1912 he married Catherine Waters Nicolson (daughter to Marcus Nicolson & Catherine Waters). They had 2 daughters: Kathleen Manson (born 23 Nov 1913 in Wick, Caithness County) and Jane Campbell Manson (Born 5 Sep 1915 in Wick, Caithness County). 5 Aug 1914 Alexander was remobilized to the Royal Dublin Fusiliers due to WWI. He died on 17 Feb 1917 due to wounds to the head. He was fighting in or near to Etaples, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. Alexander's military rank at the time was Company Quartermaster Sergeant.
