MARY CUNDIFF GUNN, 95, loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and loyal friend, died January 19, 2013. She was born in Somerset KY to E.T. and Maude Cundiff. After graduating from Humes High School, Mary worked for C.F. Work & Sons. On October 27, 1943, she married Andrew Joseph Gunn and together they had three children, Andrew J. Gunn, Jr., Michael E. Gunn and Patricia G. Whitsitt; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Gunn, Sr., her parents and her brother, John Tomlinson. Since 1957, Mrs. Gunn was a faithful communicant at St. Louis Catholic Church and worked tirelessly for the church as it expanded in the 60's. She was past president of the the Madonna Circle, member of Circle Arts and TGGGG (Tennessee Golden Girls Golf Group). Throughout her life she enjoyed painting and was very athletic, having been inducted into the Shelby County Park Commission Softball Hall of Fame. A golf player, she often reminisced about her many golf buddies. She also volunteered for several years with Birthright of Memphis. Visitation Wednesday, January 23, 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Poplar Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial in Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be made to Birthright of Memphis or Madonna Learning Center.
