Mildred Fatima Childs was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Aaron Ernest and Bertha Caroline (Sylvester) Childs. She was named after her mother's sister Mildred but preferred to go by the nickname Peggy.

Peggy grew up in Cedar Rapids and went to Coe College before meeting Donavon Ralph Wallace from Michigan whom she married in 1935. Together they had two daughters and eventually moved to California, settling in Burbank and then Pacific Palisades. Don and Peggy divorced in 1960. She never remarried.

Peggy, with her daughters, returned to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a short time but then came back to California. She lived in cities such as Costa Mesa, San Luis Obispo, Long Beach, Fullerton, and finally Anaheim.

She suffered from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's in her last years which seemed to worsen rapidly after the unexpected death of her grandson R.L. Logan II in 1994 (memorial # 103936294). Peggy passed away in a nursing home in Anaheim on 23 June 1999.

Peggy was survived by two daughters, one step-son, six grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
