Mrs. Elizabeth Sutton, widow of Thomas L. Sutton and formerly of Decatur, died at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Alice Zeigler in Maroa. She would have been eighty-four years old Saturday.
Her death was caused by pneumonia after an illness of only five days. Up to the time of her last illness, Mrs. Sutton had enjoyed unusually good health for one of her years.
Mrs. Sutton was born in Columbus, Ohio July 7, 1836. With her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Martin, she moved to Scott county, Illinois in 1846 and there in 1855, she married Thomas L. Sutton. They moved to Macon county in 1872. Mrs. Sutton lived in Decatur for twenty-five years. Her husband died here May 28, 1901. Mrs.Sutton moved to Maroa about a year ago and has been making her home with her daughter.
Mrs. Sutton leaves eight children, twenty-two grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The children are Alvie Sutton and Mrs. Bertie Nichols of Decatur, Douglas Sutton of LaPlace, A.N. Sutton and Alonzo Sutton of Findlay, Rev. E.M. Sutton of Jacinto, Cal., Mrs. T.H. Pease of Elm Creek, Neb. and Mrs. Alice Zeigler of Maroa.
