MRS. EDNA SINGMASTER, 104, DIES
Mrs. Edna E. Singmaster, 104, formerly of Keota, died early Thursday, May 30, 1974, in the Kahi Home for the Aged in Davenport where she had resided since 1963.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keota Saturday, June 1, 1974, at 9:30 a. m. with the Rev. William V. Snell and Rev. T. J. Lew officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary was recited Friday evening at 8:00 p. m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
Pall bearers were Frances Hamilton, James Flander, Dennis Bohrofen, William Shannon, James Sieren and Joe Woltering.
Mrs. Singmaster was born July 25, 1869, at Pleasant Hill, Illinois, a daughter of Samuel and Tempie Adams Carmack. She was married to Mr. Singmaster Oct. 27, 1896.
After her marriage to J. O. Singmaster in 1896, they had lived at Maple Villa, their home north of Keota, until his death in 1937. She then moved to Iowa City in 1938 where she worked as a housemother at the University of Iowa and later at the Annie Wittenmeyer Home in Davenport. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She is survived by three grandchildren: Omer Singmaster, Mrs. Jackie Hamilton and Jerry Singmaster, all of California, and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Omer Singmaster, in September 1948 and two brothers.
