Mrs. Walter Carlgren Dies, Longtime Resident taken from the Kansan, Concordia, Kansas, Thursday, January 29, 1970
Mrs. Walter Carlgren, a longtime resident died at St. Joseph hopsital on Monday, January 26, she was 84.
Mrs. Carlgren the former Ida Mae Ransom, was born at Persia, Iowa on October 13, 1885, the daughter of Charles and Alberiett Ransom. She was married to Walter Carlgren on Janyary 13, 1943 in Concordia. She came to Concordia in 1921 from Iowa.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Rebecca Lodge, WSCS of the church, West Branch Club, Rural Improvement Club.
Mrs. Carlgren is survived by her husband; 3 sons, Lester Henderson of Marion, Kans; Robert Carlgren of Omaha Nebr.; Cunton Carlgren, of Mercer Island, Wash,; 2 daughters, Gertrude, now Mrs. Ray Hague of Concordia; and Maxine, now Mrs. Clark Hayden of Valley Center; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, one son, Leland Henderson, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. H.H. Vogel officiating. burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia.
Pallbearers were Emil Swenson, Carl Swenson, Lawrence Sjogren, Raymond G. Adkinson, Elmer Sigren and Ernst Odette.
