Fannie Augusta Bowen was born in Pennsylvania in August of 1850. She was the daughter of James Wise Bowen and Mary A Bowen. She would grow up in Pottsville, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania and remained there until after her marriage.

According to Pennsylvania Church Records, Fannie was Baptized at the age of 1 by someone from Trinity Episcopal Church in Pottsville, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania.

The 1870 Census shows her living at the age of 20, in Ashland Middle Ward, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania with her father, James, her mother, Mary, two younger sisters, Sallie and Mary and a brother Clyude.

In 1871, at the age of 20, Fannie married Hezekiah Holbert. Seven children would come from their union...Robert Conkling Holbert (1871-1944), Mary Estelle Holbert Risley (1873-1915), Edward Bowen Holbert, Sr (1875-1945), Emma Reets Holbert (1879-1879), Helen Mary Holbert (1882-1966), Winifred Holbert (1884-1974) and James W. Holbert ((1886-1922).

According to Church records, Fannie was confirmed on May 5, 1872 at the age of 21.

The 1880 Census, shows Fannie living in Williamsport, Lycoming, Pennsylvania at the age of 30. The Census shows her living with her husband, Hezekiah (36), her son, Robert Conkling (8), her daughter Mary Estelle (6) her son, Edward (5) and one servant. The 1900 census indicates that all of her children were born in Pennsylvania. So sometime between 1886 when James was born and 1900 the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota.

The 1900 census shows Fannie living at 659 Summit Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota, with her husband, Hezekiah (57), her son, Edward (24), Her daughter Mary Estelle (26), her daughter Helen (18), her daughter Winifred (15), her son, James (13), her husband's mother, Martha (77), a coachman, and two servants.

On June 12, 1905, the Minnesota Census still shows Fannie living at 659 Summit Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota with her husband, Hezekiah, her daughters, Helen and Winifred, her son, James and one servant.

The 1910 census, at the age of 60, shows Fannie living at 231 Crary Street in Westchester, Mr. Vernon Ward 5, New York with her husband Hezekiah, her daughter, Helen, and her son, James.

Sometime between 1910 and 1914, Fannie would move to California. She probably moved to California in 1912 after her husband died. The Pasedena City Directory in 1915 shows her living at 755 South El Molina Avenie with her daughter, Helen. Her son, Robert Conkling and his wife, May also are shown living in Pasedena just down the street at 945 South El Molina Avenue.

In 1918, Fannie Augusta Bowen Holbert would die at the age of 68.
