Memorial Services for Allen Ray Aipperspach, age 61, of Gillette will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Morel of the Family Life Church will officiate. Allen passed away on Friday, November 3, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of pneumonia.

Allen was born on February 28, 1945 to John and Frieda (Raszler) Aipperspach in Beulah, ND. He graduated from Golden Valley High School where he was an all-star basketball player. After graduating, Allen joined the Army where he served at the White House as an Honor Guard. One of his duties was as a driver in President Kennedy's funeral procession. After his discharge, he farmed in Oklahoma.

In 1970 Allen moved to Wyoming to work in the oil field. In 1978 Allen was electrocuted and was unable to work. He did help as a counselor and teacher for other amputees and burn victims. He was especially drawn to handicapped children.

In 1983, Allen met Jean Cohen. They were married on April 30, 1989. He loved his home, gardening, hunting, fishing, travel and tinkering in the yard. Allen loved to be with people. His grandchildren and nieces and nephews were all special to him.

Allen is survived by his wife, Jean of Gillette, his daughter, Shandell Goolsby of Russellville, AR, his stepchildren, Zachary Cohen of Casper, Zanda Dunn of Sacramento, CA, Shana Hughes of Russellville, AR and his brothers and sisters Sandy Reiner of Gillette, Donald (Stormy) Aipperspach of Big Piney, Larry Aipperspach of Golden Valley, ND, Ken (Connie) Aipperspach of Powell, Carol (Delbert) McMillian of Wichita, KS, Darlene Channel of Sacramento, CA and Brenda (Ken) Bates of Greeley, CO, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jerome, and a son, Shannon Ratliff. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W 5th ST, Gillette, WY 82716
