Admiral, retired in 1917. He graduated from the Naval School (1878). Since 1886, the adjutant Manager Marine. Marine agent in Turkey (1894-1896). Chief of the Naval General Staff (14.07.1908-22.10.1911). 11.10.1911 he was appointed commander of the naval forces of the Black Sea (from 07/17/1914 - Black Sea Fleet), removed because of discontent in society and to Headquarters unpunished actions of the German-Turkish forces (06.28.1916), and then introduced to the Council of State. A member of the Admiralty Board (15/06/1917). He died in St. Petersburg.
