Thomas Allen Purdham, 66, passed from this life on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at his home in Woodbridge, Virginia, after a brave battle against lung cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Thomas was born September 1, 1946, in Luray, Virginia. He was the son of the late Harry Leo Purdham and Ruby Lessie Mayes.
In June, 1971, he married the former Brenda Kay White, who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Christopher Alan Purdham of Stafford, Virginia, and Gregory Scott Purdham of Chesapeake, Virginia, daughter-in-law Melissa Purdham of Stafford and three grandsons, Cody, Wyatt and Tyler, all of Stafford, plus one unborn grandchild, of Chesapeake. He is also survived by a sister, Janet Gander and her husband, Eddie, of Luray; along with numerous nieces and nephews that he loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Collins of Luray.
He was a graduate of Page County High School and Virginia Tech University. He remained a proud Hokie until the end. For 40 years he was employed as an auditor for the Federal Government in the Department of Health and Human Services. A life-long baseball fan, he proudly coached his sons in Dale City Little League for many years.
Tom had a strong, deep and abiding faith and love for his Lord Jesus Christ, with whom he now resides.
The family was to receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, Va.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the funeral home, followed by interment at Graves Chapel Cemetery in Stanley, Va., at 2 p.m. (Paid Obituary)
