Birth Family

NL Samuel Sharpneck ~ Born in Pennsylvania or Virginia. 1850 and 1860 census records indicate his birth place was Pennsylvania. Subsequent census details for children indicate his place of birth was Virginia. Some tree info indicates that he was born in Wetzel County, Virginia, which is where he, Lucretia, and family were living in 1850.

1850 census declares his age as 35 and his wife's age as 33; 1860 census declares his age as 33 and his wife's as 42. Especially as they had a son born around 1840, I tend to believe he was probably born around 1817 and assume the 1860 census record concerning his age is incorrect.

Present for the 1860 census in Harrison county, Iowa. Absent form the family home in Iowa 10 years later where Lucretia and the children remain, though there is no indication of Lucretia's martial status. My conclusion; likely died in Iowa between 1860 and 1870.

NL Lucretia Long ~ 23 June 1818 in Virginia, d was possibly in Chicago, Illinois between 1900 and 1910. She was widowed and living with her son, Eliel, and his family in Chicago in 1900

Samuel Sharpnack and Lucretia Long were married on 25 December 1838 in Virginia. They had 5 currently known children, and Lucretia declared herself to be the mother of 5 children with 3 still living in 1900.

Siblings ~ Children of Samuel and Lucretia:

Levi Sharpneck ~ b 1840 in Virginia. Present in the family home in Wetzel county, Wetzel, Virginia in 1850. Absent from the family home in Cincinnati Township, Harrison, Iowa in 1860. Some sources place death as 15 May 1857 in Iowa, which is consistent with Lucretia's 1900 census declaration.

Sarah Sharpnack ~ (deceased by 1900 census taking)

Present for the 1850 census with her birth family in Wetzel county, Wetzel, Virginia. Absent from the family home in Iowa in both 1860 and 1870.

William S. Sharpneck ~ 1846-1913. Married Clara A Phillips (1840-1892). They were living in Blair, Nebraska.

Matthew (Mathew) Sharpneck ~ b April 1849 in Virginia. He (M.C. Sharpneck) and Mary Richardson were married on 18 Oct 1876 in Harrison County, Iowa.

In 1895 the family was residing in Harrison, Iowa. Family members were Matthew C and Mary A, and children Eliel G (age 17) and Lena (age 15).

In 1900, Matthew and Mary were married for 24 years and living with Eliel (declared as Liel) in Williams Precinct Williams city, Coconino, Arizona Territory.

1900 census indicates Matthew's father and mother were born in Pennsylvania and Ohio, though neither seems to be correct.

Matthew's wife was Mary A Richardson Sharpnack, born October 1857 (possibly Oct 1856) in Iowa. She is the mother of two children with two still living. Her father and mother were born in Scotland and Canada Scotch respectively.

Matthew (Mathew) and Mary were residing in Oak Creek, Yavapai, Arizona in 1910. David Rees, age 28 / AZ id living with them and declared as "partner".

Per Arizona, Deaths, 1870-1951, Matthew G. (have also seem MI C) Sharpneck, married, son of Samuel Sharpneck and -- Long died in 1927 in Kirkland, Yavapai, Arizona.

Son of Matthew and Mary ~ Eliel George Sharpnack ~ born October 1879 (possibly 1878) in Iowa. Eliel George Sharpnack, b 29 Oct 1879, registered for the draft in 1917-18 in Yavapai County, Arizona.

Married Maude Stella Robinson (# 105553819) on 11 Sep 1906 in Kirkland, Yavapai, Arizona.

By 1940 he was widowed and living in Ward 4, Prescott, Supervisorial District 2, Yavapai, Arizona with a last residence of Kirkland, Yavapai, Arizona. Arizona, Deaths, 1870-1951 ~ Eliel G. Sharpnack, d 1949 ~ s/o Mathew C. Sharpnack and Mary Ann Richardson.
