INDIAN SPRINGS - Alvin Bateman, 88, of Indian Springs died at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Gentle Care of French Lick.
He was an ordnance supervisor at Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He later worked with the Martin County Highway Department.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Merrill Bateman; two daughters, Gale Noble and Debbie Sipes; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Queen-Lee Funeral Home of Shoals. Burial will be in Trinity Springs Cemetery with military rites to be accorded at the graveside by members of American Legion Post No. 61 of Shoals. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home
