Arnold N. Packard, 68, of Lopatcong Township, NJ died Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born February 15, 1941 in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was a son of Earl Chegwidden of Lopatcong twp., NJ and the late Gladys Miller Chegwidden.
He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Packard on July 26, 2009. He was a member of the Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a former NJ State Trooper, also working for Bob Young Trucking and later becoming an independent operator working with Frey's Trucking and Preston Trucking. He farmed for years and raised Livestock. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Hunterdon Developmental Ctr., in Clinton, NJ. He was of the Lutheran Faith and a graduate of Phillipsburg High School Class of 1958, where he participated in both football and track. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in all of their events, especially football.
He was a member of the Association of Former New Jersey State Troopers. He was an Exempt NJ Volunteer Fireman. He was a founding member of Lopatcong Fire Co., No. 2. He was a member of AARP and PHS Garnet Booster Club. He was involved in youth athletic associations for many years. A member of the Italian American Social Club in Phillipsburg, Citizens Hose Co., Easton, PA, as well as many other social clubs in the area.
Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Twp., PA with Military Honors.
