US MARINE CORPS
WORLD WAR II
Ned J Larsen of Mapleton, Utah passed away at the age of 87 in his home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was born on May 29, 1925 to Wilford and Margaret Larsen. Ned worked hard from sun-up to sun-down from the time he could walk. He was good friends with his siblings and continued that friendship throughout his life. He graduated from Springville High School followed by 3 years of service to his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Ned married his high school sweetheart, Beth Averett, on January 15, 1947. Ned and Beth had 4 children and dedicated their lives to their family.
Ned was a true farmer. He took pride in working hard to provide for his family. He taught his kids and grandkids how to work and how to appreciate being able to do so. He was a quiet example of dedication, companionship, loyalty and love. His family knew that he would always love and support them. He loved Joe Banditos, a good Pepsi with a touch of Diet Pepsi in it, Burger King, walking around the farm, visiting with family, but most of all he loved his sweet wife. He loved the song "Laura's Theme: Somewhere My Love". He thought it was written for him.
Ned is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Beth, and three children: Kathie (Ken) Lee of Springville, Lynette (Michael) Magliocco of Georgia, Alan (Kathy) Larsen of Texas, along with 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters: Dorothy Barber and Marilyn Larsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Richard Ned, his brothers: Clyde Larsen, & Howard Larsen, and sisters: June Burchard, Helen Klotz, Verlaine Tanner and baby Leah Larsen, his grandson, Tyler Magliocco, and great-granddaughter, Olivia Marie Hansen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, and one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
"Ned, I'll see you in the morning sun, And when the day is thru, I'll be looking at the moon, But I'll be seeing you."
