Earnest L. "Jack" Blanchard, 83, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 20, 2005.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in South Lawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kinch of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Mr. Blanchard was born Dec. 17, 1921, to Mary (Bartlett) and Ernest J. Blanchard in El Reno, Okla. He married Rowena Kreger on Dec. 30, 1940, in El Reno. They were married until she passed away on July 18, 1986. He later married Grace Nielsen on Dec. 4, 1986, in Amarillo. He served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Richmond and the USS Mayo. He drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 26 years. He was a member of VFW and American Legion, and he was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; a stepsister; and a son, Amos Bill Blanchard.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald Blanchard and wife, Linda, of Arlington; a daughter, Barbara Jean Wood and husband, Doug, of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Steven and Brian Wood, Carrie King, Marc, Scott, and Alan Blanchard, and Tammie Gibson; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to American Diabetes Association, Memorial Program, P.O. Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038; or to South Lawn Baptist Church, 4306 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79110.
