Well Known Amherst Farmer Succumbs To Pneumonia Monday


Amherst-, Dec 7.--Henry Berg, a prominent quarryman and a retired farmer, succumbed early Monday morning to pneumonia after an illness of one weeks duration. With the exception of two years spent in Michigan. Mr. Berg had lived his entire life in this section.
He was 56 years of age, born in Russia Township and was a member of the German Evangelical church, and of the K & L of S Lodge. At Ithica, Mich., on September sixth, 1882, he was united in marriage to Alice Springer. They moved shortly after to Lorain county.
He leaves to mourn his sudden departure, his wife, and five children, Lizzie, Walter, Mrs. Kate Shriner, Leon and Gladys. A son Robert, died in infancy. Besides these he leaves one brother, Edward Berg, of Russia and four sisters; Mrs. Emma Albright, Carlisle; Mrs. Carrie Brown, Vermilion; Miss Lucy Berg, Oberlin and Mrs. Stein of North Star Mich.
Funeral services will be held from the late home at one o'clock on Wednesday afternoon and at the M.E. church at 1:30. Rev. J.J. Motterhead, will officiate and the remains will be interred in Crownhill cemetery.
