VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. - Mr. Elbert Glen Haddock, 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Timothy Christian Church, County Home Road, Ayden. Burial will follow in Riverside Christian Church Cemetery. Mr. Haddock, son of the late Jasper and Reppie Haddock, was a Pitt County native and was raised in the Clayroot community. He was a graduate of Chicod School and East Carolina University. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving during the European Theatre. For more than 40 years he had made his home in Virginia Beach where he taught Industrial Arts in the Virginia Public School System until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Lancaster Haddock; son, Kinsey Haddock; granddaughter, Ashley Haddock, all of Virginia Beach; sister, Dorothy H. Vandiford, of Ormondsville; foster brother, J.C. Lilly and wife, Nora, of New Bern, N.C.; brother in-law, Ronald Pate and wife, Lois, of Vanceboro, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church.
