Screen Actor. He acted under the name Robert Shaw beginning in the 1930s. His film career included roles in several films by John Ford, such as "The Grapes of Wrath," "Young Mr. Lincoln" and "Tobacco Road." He also appeared in the Ford directed military training film "Sex Hygiene." Other credits include "The Great Profile," which starred John Barrymore, Henry King’s "Captain from Castile" and "Honeysuckle Rose." As a child, he was a batboy for a Texas League Baseball team. During an exhibition, he played a game of catch with Babe Ruth. Ruth, Gehrig and the rest of the world champion Yankees signed the ball. It can still see the ball today in the Legends of the Game Museum in Arlington, Texas. He served as lieutenant during World War II. He died two months after Mary Sue, his beloved wife of 62 years, died in Victoria, November 4, 2004. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
