Playing With Match and Punk,
She is Enveloped in Flames.

Utica, July 6.
Doris G. Rose, four year
old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles D. Rose of Utica, died yesterday
from burns sustained when her
clothing caught fire during the celebration
of the Fourth. She was playing
in the back yard when her mother
heard her scream and rushed out to
find her envoloped in flames. Although
Mrs. Rose succeeded in smothering
the flames, her little daughter was
badly burned and was taken immediately
to the hospital, where several
doctors worked constantly to save her
life. The child had no fireworks and
it is believed that she was attempting
to light a piece of punk, and the flame
from the match ignited her dress. This
was the only tragedy to mar Utica's
Fourth of July celebration.
