Son of Elmer and Dora (Barnett) Brattin.
Married Lucille Savage on October 10, 1931, in Rocky Comfort.
Preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, Ona, Morris, Farris, Lela, Olie, Iva, Wayne, Nellie, Ray, Vern, Loren, and Valen.
Champ received his education at Ridgley. While he was growing up, he worked with his brothers in the timber and helped his Dad in the sawmill. They made railroad ties for the M&NA. Before becoming a self-employed carpenter, he worked in the Rush Canning Factory, picked strawberries, managed Ridgley's local grocery store, was a part time barber and a semi-professional baseball pitcher for the Yankee's Farm Team. In 1944 he moved to Cassville and managed the Newman Farms. He began his carpenter business in 1948 and retired in 1977.
Donations may be made to the Corinth Baptist Church, Cassville in his memory.
