Danny Russell Bras was the son of John and Donna Hemphill Bras, born 31 January 1952 in Burlington, Iowa. He had attended school in Mediapolis. He was the husband of Jan and the father of Nathan, and the family resided in rural West Burlington at the time of his death. Dan died in an auto accident in Des Moines County on December 19, 1981.
Besides his wife and son, he was survived by his parents; a sister, Charlene Hill, and a brother, Darrel Bras, both of Burlington, IA; a nephew, Mark Bras; his paternal grandmother, Sylvia Bras, Morning Sun, IA; his maternal step-grandmother, Hazel Hemphill, Mediapolis, IA; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceeded in death by his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents.
