Mr. Dorland was born and brought up on the farm on which he died. He married Helen Daly, whose father and mother resided for a time near Wilton.
One son is a physician in Milwaukee, and the other, Redford, resides at the homestead. Mrs. A.N. Hermance is one daughter, the other being Mrs. C.C. Parks.
Mr. Dorland for years was reeve of the township, continuing to fill the office until his eyesight failed. At about 72, he died, the expression being that an honest man, upright in all his dealings, had departed.
