Anna Frances (Shifflett) Swortzel, 93, of Waynesboro passed away January 6, 2013 at the home of her daughter.
Born May 4, 1919 at Hickory Hill near Fishersville in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and LaRue Lam Shifflett.
Ms. Swortzel graduated from New Hope High School. She was a member of Crimora United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ray C. Swortzel; sisters, Margaret Campbell, Hazel Estes and Mildred Swortzel; brother, G. H. Shifflett.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet Wonderley of Madrid; granddaughter, Dawn and husband Michael Veronesi; great-grandchildren, Melissa Veronesi and fiancé Andrew Harless and Anthony Veronesi; great-great grandchildren, Aiden and Kaylee Harless; several nieces and nephews; as well as a very special friend and caregiver, Margie Hume.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Rev. Forest Porter and Shannon Swortzel officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the funeral home.
