|Birth: ||Oct. 18, 1937|
|Death: ||Jan. 25, 1971|
Light weight boxer, had 6 fights, which he lost.
After getting into a fight he got thrown out of a honkey tonk owned by Leo Kinard and managed by Clive Neeley. A week or so later the place was burned to the ground and blamed on Earl. Neeley and Kinard hired Norman Hooten, a sheriff, to come over to Meridian from Bracketville, Texas and kill Earl. On Jan 25, 1971 Norman was sitting with another Dixie Mafia guy named Charles "Bull" Hill at Club Nelva in Meridian. Both Hooten and Hill owned Pit bulls. They lured Earl out there and Hooten shot and killed him on January 25, 1971. Hooten was not prosecuted. Hooten had been a deputy sheriff in Dallas jail where Jack Ruby was being held after shooting Lee Harvey Oswald.
At one time he was with Alton Wayne Roberts, member of the KKK at Ma Shoemate's and got into a fight and knocked her down and knocked out a couple of teeth. She ran a house of prostitution and bar along with her son, Jerry Shoemaker.
